Maple with Acrylic Edge & Grip
The hammers came yesterday, and I’ve spent several hours since playing with them. They’re fantastic.
The plastic edge is loud and sharp (in terms of attack, not pitch). Knew that, expected it. All good. The leather side is louder than the leather sides of my Jill Weimer hammers, while still having almost no impact noise. That’s fantastic.
And the hammers are a little heavier than other brands, which makes them easier to control, with the balance point farther back towards my hands, which makes for faster chords and cleaner rolls.
I just wanted to say that I’m very pleased.

Birdseye Maple with Cherry Cotton Candy Swirl Acrylic Edge & Grip - 10.5g
These hammers are the best!! The grips lend themselves to rolling with precision and the head is perfect for the string spacing on my Masterworks Dulciforte. I like having the colored acrylic edge not only because it sounds good, but also because it makes it easier for my online students to see which string I’m hitting with an overhead video view. I’ve played with Bob Bedard hammers for over 20 years and am so pleased that Wolf Hill Woodworking offers the same fantastic workmanship that Bob did! Very grateful!

Maple and Ebony -12g
I am new to the Hammer world although not so to the Mountain Dulcimer. As a newbie, I fell victim to trying to figure out which were the best hammers for me. So, I tried (and purchased) several. I absolutely love the Classic Harlequin Hammered Dulcimer Hammer weighted at 12g! Not only are they quite beautiful but the balance is amazing. I feel that I am in better control and think I may have finally found my striking niche due to this hammer pair. The length works well for me too because of the head weight and the firm ebony wood which result in plenty of bounce on the strings. This design is a real winner!

Maple and Padauk with Ebony Edge -9.7g
These hammers are amazing. Totally aside from the stunning beauty of them -- with the holly wood, walnut, and ebony -- the feel of them is superb. Excellent hand-feel, just the right weight, not too heavy, not too light. I could not be more pleased. They even made my playing sound better. Thanks so much, Wolf Hill!

Maple with Felt edge and Blue Black Acrylic edge & grip - 10.7g
The big fuzzy hammers came today, and I couldn't be happier.
I was expecting a quieter sound, of course, but what I didn't expect was the way the softer head brings out the TONE of the note while completely eliminating the PERCUSSION sound. It's a fantastic effect, almost the opposite of playing with dampers engaged -- which muffles the tone and leaves mostly the sound of the hammer striking the muted string.
It's exactly what I would want when playing back-up: chord support without any noise to distract from the melody instrument.”

Birdseye Maple with Acrylic edge & grip - 10.8g
First off, these are beautiful hammers to look at! I love the feel of the handles, which are easy to grasp loosely - very important for this beginner. The acrylic edge has a clear, crisp tone I really enjoy.

I purchased these gorgeous hammers for a student’s Christmas gift. The lady is the phone when I ordered was friendly and very helpful. I’ve used Bob’s hammers for years and am so glad that the tradition and fine craftsmanship is being carried on.

Maple with Lacewood grip
Balance point is 1.5 inches in front of lead finger, allowing more effortless dynamic hammering impact (stronger -> softer) and well counter balanced for faster hammering.

Birdseye Maple with Lacewood grip - 10g
I ordered the Birdseye Maple and Lacewood Wyldewoode hammers and tried them out for a week but they had an unusual balance point that did not suit my playing style. My playing got suddenly sloppy and inaccurate! I would have to give them only a 2-star rating. I asked if I could exchange them for a pair of Wisps and Dawn replied promptly with instructions for how to make the exchange.

Maple with Padauk grip 7.4g
The WyldeWoode dulcimer hammers were shipped in a strong, secure box. In use, they are about 6 3/4" from front finger to strike point, total 8 1/2" long. Weight is 7.4 g. These hammers are light but very controllable for faster playing while still maintaining a dynamic acoustical range. I like them very much.

Birdseye Maple with Cedar grip - 7.8g
Best hammers I ever had. You get more than what you paid for them. There are no perfect musicians but with these hammers they are so much fun to play with I am smiling no matter if I hit the right note or not.

Birdseye Maple with Acrylic edge & grip - 10.3g
Thank you sooooo much for another pair of beautiful hammers. They just keep getting better and better. I love how you are carrying on the work of Bob Bedard and honor him with carrying on the name with a product that fully has the quality of his work. I use Bedard hammers exclusively and I will enjoy wearing the button you sent. I like the way you "bookmatched" the acrylic in the handles.

Maple with Felt and Blue Swirl Extended Acrylic Grip
My 2nd pair! As I wrote in a review for the red acrylic grip version, these are great hammers for practicing when you have to be as quiet as possible. With a baby in the house, these are indispensable! I got a pair in red and a pair in blue.
